Miguel’s POV at winter camp: how’s working in a cultural club?

Hey! What’s up? Miguel it’s here, the volunteer at… Wola? If you have been following this project, you should know I normally volunteer at the 27LO school, so what I am doing with Emma? I promise we are not working on evil plans to take over the world (at least me).

You see, Poland is a cool (and cold) country and they have a winter break after Christmas — I was shocked to know this, because in Spain we have to suffer school throughout the whole winter time :):

So where are the Polish students if not at school? Well, some of the little ones are coming to winter workshops in cultural clubs like Klub Kultury Wola, which asked me to go there and help.

And how is it working at a Cultural Club? It is different. They have an office, they don’t have to worry about the bell ringing every 40 minutes, there is no “Dzien dobry, jest pani…?” in the teacher rooms… and of course, the responsibilities are also different.

Here I have to entertain kids with games, which is easier than entertaining teens with conversation classes, but way more unpredictable. You don’t know what will happen next, you don’t know who is going to cry, you don’t know who is going to hate the game that you prepared and who is going to love it, so you better be flexible!

Overall, it’s a nice experience to break monotony and working with Emma is really fun! 100% recommended. Other than that, these winter workshops mean that the end of winter is close, so it’s time to enjoy!

See you around!
