Hey you the future volunteer,
Zrinka here, Croatian volunteer. It is September and I am at the very end of my volunteering experience in Krakow. Sad, isn’t it? For me it is extremely sad saying goodbye to all the coworkers and flatmates these days and I am refusing to accept that this beautiful experience won’t be infinite.
It is hard to summarize a whole year in one text but I’ll try to mention a few important points for me.
I started feeling Krakow as my home and our flat in Pijarska also (even though it smelled bad when outside was raining). My flatmates became a family and I developed an addiction to food in Kamelot, Pizzeria Vicenti and Chimera.
Without my coworkers – now friends and Tori & Kris I could never get to the level of Polish language where I am now so I want to thank them for talking to me in Polish and being patient. Dziekuje wam bardzo.
I will never forget moments at home with my international family (even the bad ones) and I have to confess that my most memorable moments in KLub Kultury Lokietek happened in between work while joking with Ewa, Maciek and Magda.
I managed to see Warsaw, Wrocław, Katowice, Gdańsk, Sopot and Zakopane apart from Krakow.
I fulfilled my childhood dream and became an ice skater (beginner but with huge plassion) in Lodowisko Cracovia.
I have on my bucket list to visit Greece, Malaga, Uhorske, Sweden and Ukraine.
And I managed to be on broadcast with Arrate and Alex in Jazzkultura 🙂
I wish you to decide to leave your comfort zone and get to live this experience of the EU Solidarity Corps, you won’t regret it!
Sincerely,
Zrinka
