The year that I spended as a volunteer in Krakow for the Centrum Kultury Dworek Białoprądnicki was incredible. It is hard to define my experience in a few lines, but I would say that it was fullyling in all aspects.
The atmosphere festival is still one of my proudest works up to date, we devoted all our energy to it and felt supported to make it as ambitious as we wanted it to be. I also learn a lot in my dedicated center, the Klub Kultury Przegorzały. There I was surrounded by the locals, I learned from them and shared a great deal.
Nevertheless, the ESC program is not just about work, it’s also about experiencing life with people from really different backgrounds and cultures. It’s about living with 6 other people and creating a bound that will last forever. In the end, this project is also about understanding and discovering another country. Thanks to the language classes, the friends we met and numerous travels, I got the pleasure to discover an underestimated country with a complex but fascinating history and a vibrant and strong population.
I would like to recommend to the future volunteers to be creative and willing because this short year will only be as good as you make it to be. All the tools are there and support is given by the project, you just have to choose and do something with it.
